The Lent season is the period just before and during the Easter. Easter covers an entire week as the believers celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is during this period that believers remember the less privileged more, create time to pray together and for each other, carry out baptism among other Christian based responsibilities. The Christian cross celebrated in Christianity is not a mere piece of wood or jewelry worn around the neck. The cross is big enough to accommodate the entire humanity built for the love God has for us; He sent His only begotten son to come and die for us. Learn more on Water From Rock weekly devotional.

It is through Jesus Christ' death on the cross that human beings received salvation and life. It is because of the death that the barrier between God and man was removed symbolized by the curtains of the temple that broke into two parts. Paul in his teachings to early believers taught that a human being should never boast of anything except in the cross of Christ. The cross is the most important thing in a Christian's life as it is the source of their salvation and the reason they are alive today. See more at waterfromrock.org.

Before Jesus died on the cross, sin separated man from God but after the crucifixion and resurrection; a man could now access the Lord God directly without fear or restrictions. That is how important the cross is to our lives. The cross is the greatest irony of the entire world. While Jesus lost his life on the cross, human beings received their life and salvation on the same cross at the same time. It is also ironical that while Christ Jesus received a crown of honor on the cross of life, all the human beings received a glorified crown in return for the pain; suffering and persecution the Son of God went through. We should all find glory on the cross since it is the best thing that ever happened to human beings. Jesus died on the cross so we might live. We should always turn to Him for any of our needs and suffering since our suffering is His suffering as he paid costly just to bring salvation to us. He bought us with his own life and cannot just afford to lose us so cheaply bearing in mind the price He paid for us to be His. Committing sins is a way of taking Jesus Christ our savior back to the cross which is the most painful thing one can ever do.
